I called the bank instead of waiting for fear to manage the problem worse

Dear Delyara, I kept telling myself I needed the right time, more energy, better numbers, a clearer head. The truth was simpler: I was frightened. Frightened of sounding incapable. Frightened of hearing a worse answer than the one already in my head. Frightened of becoming one of those people whose voice gives them away on financial calls. Then one Wednesday morning, after a terrible night, I made the call anyway. It was awkward at first. My voice shook. I still stayed on the line. I explained the situation. I asked direct questions. I let them talk. I wrote things down. I arranged what needed arranging. By the end of the call, the actual problem was still real, but it had stopped being the giant shadow version I had been feeding in silence. That’s what I’m proud of. Not that money suddenly became easy. That I stopped using delay as a second form of damage.
