The StruggleBurnout

I can do things, I just cannot feel anything while doing them

Dear Delyara, I think this is burnout, though part of me still wants to call it laziness because that is the more familiar cruelty. I still go to work. I still answer people. I still do what needs to be done. But I don’t feel present inside any of it anymore. Everything feels flat. Even things I used to enjoy now feel like tasks I must complete. My laughter sounds delayed. My energy feels borrowed. My weekends disappear into recovery, and still Monday arrives before I feel even slightly restored. The worst part is that because I’m still functioning, nobody really understands the depth of it. They see output, so they assume wellness. They see me continue, so they assume capacity. But burnout is not always collapse. Sometimes it is continuation after your inner life has already shut down.
