I can feel unseen in very practical relationships

Dear Delyara, Some relationships are full of logistics and very little emotional accuracy. People ask what time, what day, what’s needed, what happened, what’s the plan, what do the children need, what did the doctor say, what’s for dinner, what’s next. Everything moves efficiently enough. Life gets handled. But the actual human inside all that handling can go untouched for long stretches of time. That’s what I mean when I say I can feel lonely around people who technically care. Practical care is not the same as emotional recognition. And if you live too long without the second one, something in you starts to dry out quietly.
