I can still feel myself becoming easier to digest around family

Dear Delyara, That’s the phrase that came to me this week. Easier to digest. Less sharp. Less direct. Less fully alive in my truth. More adjusted. More pre-softened. More emotionally digestible. And I think that’s one of the hidden costs of family history. Not that you become a different person exactly, but that you become more edible than honest in certain rooms. The room stays smoother. You leave hungrier. I’m tired of that hunger.
