I Cancelled the Plan

Dear Delyara, The old version of me would have gone anyway, smiled, stayed polite, returned home flatter and more resentful, then called that maturity because at least I hadn’t disappointed anyone. This time I told the truth sooner. I cancelled. No invented excuse. No dramatic illness. Just honesty about capacity. The guilt came. I let it come. I did not obey it. That felt like victory because I am trying to stop confusing self-betrayal with kindness. This was one small step away from that old confusion.
