I Cancelled the Plan and Didn’t Turn Myself Into a Villain for It
Dear Delyara, I was tired. That was enough. Or at least I’m trying to believe it should be. The old version of me would have gone anyway, smiling, functioning, then come home flatter and resentful and secretly proud of having pushed through while privately becoming less kind for everyone afterward. This time I didn’t do that. I cancelled. Honestly. Without pretending to be sick, overbooked, or unavailable for some more respectable reason than simply not having the emotional energy. And when the guilt came, I did not obey it. That felt like a real victory. Not because staying home is dramatic. Because telling the truth about my limits before they turn into damage is something I’m only just learning how to do.
