My Diary

I carried the clean duvet cover upstairs and nearly lost the will halfway

Dear Delyara, It got caught on the banister, then on my foot, then on the ridiculous fact that I was once again carrying something too large and awkward through the house while nobody else even knew it was happening. That made me laugh. Then, almost immediately, it made me want to cry. Because that is what domestic life can feel like when you are tired enough. Not only chores. Symbols. One woman dragging a clean duvet up the stairs while thinking about work emails, school forms, whether the children are okay, whether the week will stretch financially, whether her marriage is actually fine or just functioning, all while the duvet keeps snagging on everything in sight. I got it upstairs. That is not the point. The point is that it felt like the whole week attached itself to the corners of that fabric.
