My Diary
I changed the bed and felt like I had done something holy
Dear Delyara, Fresh sheets. Pillowcases that smelled clean. The duvet pulled straight. A room that, for once, looked like it might hold me gently instead of ask something from me. That should not have felt as important as it did. It felt enormous. Maybe because so much of my life right now is unfinished, noisy, handled badly, or handled just enough. The bed was different. It was complete. Calm. Ready. Kind. I think my whole nervous system noticed before my mind did. I climbed in later and felt safer than I had felt all day. It made me realise how little softness my body has been receiving lately.
