My Diary
I checked my bank account and lost my peace
Dear Delyara, I was in a decent mood until I checked my bank account. That’s how fragile peace can feel when money is involved. One glance at the numbers and the whole day changed tone. Suddenly I was thinking about all the practical things at once — what’s due, what can wait, what if something goes wrong, what I shouldn’t have bought, how much room there really is this month, whether I’m doing badly or just living in expensive times. Money is not just money when it has the power to change how safe your life feels. Tonight I feel smaller because of numbers. I hate that.
