I corrected my boss in the meeting and didn’t spend all night regretting it

Dear Delyara, He got the figures wrong and was about to make a decision based on them. Normally I would have hesitated, weighed the room, softened myself into a question, or waited until later and privately resented my own silence. Instead I said, calmly, “Sorry, those aren’t the updated numbers. The latest report shows…” He checked. I was right. The meeting moved on. The real victory came later, though. I didn’t spend the evening replaying it in shame. I didn’t punish myself for taking up the professional space the truth required in that moment. That is newer for me than it should be.
