I Corrected the Mistake Calmly
Dear Delyara, The bill was wrong. The assumption was wrong. The name was wrong. It doesn’t really matter which. What matters is that I said so without apologizing for noticing. No nervous smile. No over-explaining. No “sorry, maybe I’m mistaken.” Just the correction. That is still a big deal in me. Because women are taught to make truth soft before offering it. To wrap accuracy in enough deference that everyone else feels safe receiving it. I am trying to stop doing that when it costs me dignity. This moment felt like progress. Quiet progress. The kind I trust.
