I corrected the room before I had time to betray myself

Dear Delyara, Usually there is a dangerous pause. The one where I start calculating whether it’s worth speaking, whether I’ll sound difficult, whether later would be better, whether I can live with letting it go. That pause is where I usually lose myself. This time I didn’t let the pause grow. I spoke while the moment was still alive. Not dramatically. Not perfectly. Just enough to stop the wrong version of things from hardening in the room. My heart was pounding. I still did it. That felt like a victory not because I was fearless, but because I did not sacrifice myself for social smoothness the way I usually do.
