I corrected the room before it moved on

Dear Delyara, When something inaccurate or unfair is said at work, my first instinct is often to let the room keep flowing and tell myself I’ll sort it out later. But later usually means I carry the whole thing home in my chest and spend the evening angry at myself for choosing politeness over self-respect. This time I stopped it in the moment. My voice shook a little. I still did it. That felt like progress in a very honest way. Not glamorous confidence. Just me refusing, for once, to let the wrong version of events become the official one because I was afraid of making the room uncomfortable.
