I could hear the love inside the awkwardness and let that be enough for the night

Dear Delyara, The love did not arrive in my preferred language. The tone was not ideal. The form still carried some of the old awkwardness I’ve spent years wishing were different. But this week I could hear the care clearly enough that I didn’t lose it in the imperfections. I let it count without demanding a different history before I allowed myself to feel moved by it. That doesn’t erase grief. It gives it company. And sometimes company is what grief has needed all along.
