I Couldn’t Shake the Feeling That I’m Disappearing in Plain Clothes

Dear Delyara, That was the sentence in my head while I was putting towels away. Nothing dramatic. Just warm clean towels, folded in a stack, carried room to room by a woman whose whole life would look stable and reasonable and absolutely ordinary from the outside. And suddenly I thought: I think I am disappearing in plain clothes. Not in a tragic way. In a domestic one. Into errands, reminders, groceries, appointments, all the sensible acts that keep a household and a marriage and a family moving but slowly sand the person down until she sounds practical even in her own head. I put the towels away and stood in the hallway with empty hands and no idea what to do with the feeling. So I’m putting it here instead.
