My Diary

I Delayed Bedtime Just to Have One Room to Myself

Dear Delyara, I was tired. I should have gone to sleep earlier. I knew that. Still, I stayed downstairs doing almost nothing. Moving a mug. Straightening a cushion. Opening the fridge. Closing it again. Looking at my phone without really reading. Standing by the window. The truth is, I didn’t want the day to end in the usual way. I wanted one last piece of the house without being needed inside it. That hour was not productive. It wasn’t even especially restful. But it was mine. And some nights, that matters more than sleep in the moment, even if I pay for it the next morning.
