I did not make myself the joke

Dear Delyara, Today I noticed that I didn’t use self-deprecation as quickly as I usually do. I didn’t shrink myself to make the room comfortable. Didn’t make the first joke at my own expense. Didn’t preemptively reduce myself before anyone else had the chance. It felt small on the surface. Deep underneath, it felt like self-respect.
