I Didn’t Answer Right Away

Dear Delyara, Someone messaged me and I didn’t answer immediately. That should not feel like a personal revolution, but apparently it does. Normally I reply too quickly, too carefully, too responsibly. Even when I’m tired. Even when I don’t want to talk. Even when I need more time inside my own head before entering someone else’s. Tonight I waited. Not to be rude. Not to create distance. Just because I wanted my own minute first. It felt healthy and uncomfortable at the same time.
