Other VictoriesBreaking Habits
I didn’t check his profile once this week
Dear Delyara, That feels almost too embarrassing to call a victory out loud, but it is one. After the breakup, checking his profile became one of those private compulsions that made me feel worse every single time and yet still pulled at me when I was lonely or curious or trying to prove some point to myself I couldn’t quite name. It was never satisfying. Just familiar. This week I didn’t do it once. Not because I have fully healed. Because I finally respected the pattern enough to stop feeding it. There was more space in my mind than I expected. Less agitation. Less self-inflicted bruising. Sometimes progress is not about doing something beautiful. It is about discontinuing something quietly destructive.
