I Didn’t Insult Myself in the Mirror

Dear Delyara, I saw myself in the mirror today and my first thought wasn’t criticism. That has happened so rarely in my life that I noticed it immediately. I didn’t admire myself dramatically. I didn’t suddenly feel transformed. I just looked at my own face and felt neutral, maybe even a little soft. For someone who has spent years meeting her own reflection with correction, that felt like a real shift.
