I Didn’t Open the News
Dear Delyara, I have realised how often I let the world’s fear arrive in my body before I have even had one clean minute of being a person in a morning. Headlines, crisis, outrage, urgency — all of it entering the nervous system before tea. This week I didn’t do that. Window first. Water first. Breath first. Sky first. The day began differently because of it. Softer. Not safer, perhaps. But softer. And softness at the beginning matters more than I used to think.
