My Diary

I didn’t realize how lonely I was until someone was kind

Dear Delyara, Someone checked on me in a very ordinary way today, and I felt immediately emotional. That reaction told me more than the moment itself. I think I’ve been lonelier than I admitted, but in a quiet adult way. Not dramatic loneliness. Functional loneliness. The kind where you still work, still reply, still keep the day moving, but go too long without feeling emotionally held in any meaningful sense. So when kindness finally reaches that place, it doesn’t feel small. It feels almost unbearable in its accuracy. That happened today. And I’m still feeling it tonight.
