Other VictoriesBreaking Habits
I didn’t reduce my truth to keep the moment easier
Dear Delyara, The urge was there. The old urge to shrink, to summarize, to make the feeling more manageable than it really was so the interaction could stay polished. I didn’t do it this time. Not dramatically. Not by becoming harsh. I just let the truth stay a little less edited. That felt important. Because I think some of my biggest habits are not loud, destructive ones. They are habits of reduction. And every time I interrupt one, I feel a little less far from myself afterward. This week, I felt that clearly.
