My Diary

I didn’t want comfort food. I wanted comfort with no consequences

Dear Delyara, That is the more honest sentence. Not chocolate exactly. Not takeaway exactly. Not another cup of tea exactly. What I wanted was interruption of pressure without guilt attached. Some form of relief that didn’t ask me to spend money, wreck my sleep, answer a message, make a decision, or clean up afterward. I think that’s why evenings can feel so difficult when I’m depleted. The body wants softness, but the available forms of softness often come tangled with some other cost, and I am too tired to negotiate one more compromise properly. So I stood in the kitchen for a while, opened and shut two cupboards, and eventually made toast. The toast was fine. The feeling remained more complicated.
