I don’t know if I chose this path or simply adapted well enough to stay on it

Dear Delyara, That question keeps returning. I am competent here. That is what makes it confusing. If I were clearly failing, maybe I would already have permission to leave, change, question, reroute. But competence can cover misalignment so neatly. You become good enough at the path that people assume it must suit you. Eventually, even you begin assuming that. And then one day you realize: I know how to do this. I don’t know if I belong to this. That’s where I am.
