I don’t need the memory to go silent before I believe I’ve changed

Dear Delyara, That realization has brought me a lot of peace. There are still memories with weather. Still old themes that know how to ache under the right conditions. But the ache no longer means I am back at the beginning. It no longer gets to invalidate all the change just because it still exists. That is such a relief. Healing for me now looks less like erasure and more like changed power. The memory may still speak. It just doesn’t run the whole house.
