I Don’t Rush Myself the Same Way Anymore

Dear Delyara, Inner peace used to sound like an aesthetic to me. Candles. Music. Pretty routines. A soft version of life that other people seemed better suited for. What I know now is that inner peace is much less decorative and much more hard-won. For me, it has looked like not reacting immediately to every fear. It has looked like letting a moment stay simple without making it carry all the weight of the future. It has looked like sitting by the window with tea and not feeling guilty for not turning the moment into productivity. It has looked like not interrogating every silence. It has looked like no longer rushing myself the way I used to. I still have anxious days. I still spiral sometimes. I still lose perspective and have to find it again. But I am calmer inside myself than I used to be. And that has changed my life in ways no one can photograph.
