I dropped into bed before checking the kitchen and had to fight the urge to get back up
Dear Delyara, I knew there were things left undone. A pan soaking. Bread still out. One lunchbox not emptied. Maybe the cat bowl too. But my body had crossed a line where getting back up felt less like responsibility and more like self-betrayal. So I stayed in bed. And then, of course, the internal argument began. A good mother would sort it now. A decent adult wouldn’t leave it. Tomorrow will be worse. You’re being lazy. No, you’re exhausted. No, you’re making excuses. I lay there listening to all of that like it was bad radio and made myself stay put. In the morning the kitchen was still there. Slightly annoying, yes. Entirely survivable, also yes. I need more evidence like that. Evidence that not every undone thing is a moral emergency.
