I drove past the hospital without that old feeling in my stomach
Dear Delyara, I noticed it because it was missing. For a long time, even seeing the building from the road changed my body. Not always into panic, but into that old alertness that comes when memory and fear join forces before you’ve consciously chosen anything. This week I drove past on the ring road and felt… normal. Maybe slightly reflective, but not hijacked. I don’t want to underestimate that. It means something. Healing is often easiest to miss when it arrives as absence.
