I feel guilty for being tired of other people
Dear Delyara, There are days when I am simply tired of people. Not because they are cruel. Because I am carrying too much to offer them the version of myself they usually receive. And then, immediately, guilt arrives. Guilt for feeling crowded. Guilt for wanting distance. Guilt for resenting harmless needs. Guilt for not being endlessly emotionally available. I think some of us were trained to believe that goodness means bottomless capacity. And when our capacity ends, we experience that as failure instead of information. I want to unlearn that. I’m not there yet.
