I feel guilty for needing distance from people I love
Dear Delyara, There are evenings when I want everybody to leave me alone. Not because I don’t love them. Because I am full. Full of noise, contact, requests, decisions, interruptions, family weather, and the pressure of being emotionally reachable all the time. And the second I want distance, guilt is right there. Because mothers are not supposed to need this much quiet. Wives are not supposed to flinch inward when one more person starts talking. Good women are supposed to keep yielding gracefully. I know those messages are unfair. My body still believes them just enough to make rest feel morally complicated. That is exhausting all by itself.
