I feel less self-conscious in this kind of love

Dear Delyara, That may be the deepest thing I’ve learned from being loved well. Not more excitement. Less self-consciousness. I do not feel watched in the wrong way. I do not feel I need to perform emotional intelligence, brightness, patience, or perfect communication in order to remain close. I feel more like myself and less like a carefully managed version of myself. That is such a profound relief. I think love that reduces self-consciousness may be one of the safest kinds there is.
