The SilenceLoneliness
I feel loneliest when I need accurate comfort and get practical conversation instead
Dear Delyara, I can survive practical conversation all day. I do survive it. Work, school, errands, family logistics, dinner, calendars, messages, forms, reminders — the world is full of functional language. What I am starved for is accurate comfort. The kind that knows the difference between tired and undone. Between needing advice and needing tenderness. Between wanting to talk and wanting someone to quietly stay close. When I don’t get that, the loneliness is immediate. Not because no one is around. Because I feel emotionally untranslated in the rooms where I most need to be understood without so much explanation. I think a lot of adult loneliness is not absence. It’s imprecision.
