My Diary

I felt almost peaceful while putting the bins out

Dear Delyara, Which is not a sentence I expected to write. It was late, the street was quiet, the air was cold enough to wake me up a little, and for those two minutes outside with the bins there was no one asking me anything, no noise except the wheels on the pavement, no screen in my hand, no decision bigger than which one went out first. It was such an ordinary task, but somehow it felt cleaner than the rest of the day. Simple motion. Clear purpose. A tiny patch of solitude in the dark. I stood at the gate a few seconds longer than necessary after I was done. Then went back inside.
