My Diary

I felt embarrassed for still being sensitive about it

Dear Delyara, Something happened today that reminded me I’m not as “over it” as I sometimes pretend to be. It wasn’t a huge trigger. Just a topic, a tone, a memory brushed accidentally by something someone said. But the emotional reaction in me was faster and deeper than I expected, and almost immediately I felt that second layer: embarrassment. Embarrassment that I still react. Embarrassment that certain old bruises are still alive. Embarrassment that healing is not as clean and finished as I sometimes want it to sound. Maybe part of growth is not just being triggered less, but being less ashamed when it happens. I’m not fully there yet.
