My Diary

I felt embarrassed for wanting more

Dear Delyara, I had a moment today where I wanted more from life than what I currently have, and I immediately felt ashamed of myself for it. More ease. More clarity. More money. More warmth. More love. More rest. More feeling that my life belongs to me and not just to responsibility. I don’t know when wanting more became something I feel guilty about. Maybe I learned that desire is selfish unless it stays small enough not to inconvenience anyone. But the wanting is still there. Quiet. Persistent. A little embarrassed. Still real.
