My Diary
I felt homesick for emotional safety
Dear Delyara, Not for a place. For a condition. For the feeling of being around someone without preparing. For the kind of emotional safety where silence doesn’t need explanation, need doesn’t feel embarrassing, and tenderness doesn’t arrive mixed with pressure, confusion, or withdrawal. I don’t think I’ve had enough of that in my life to call it familiar. And still, I miss it. Maybe some forms of homesickness are really just longing for a softer internal climate than the one you were trained in.
