I finally said the word depressed instead of dressing it up as “just tired”
Dear Delyara, That word had been waiting in me for months. I kept circling it with smaller, safer language. Tired. Flat. Off. Hormonal. Burned out. A lot going on. Busy. All those adult phrases that let a woman stay technically honest while still protecting everybody else from the true scale of what her inner life has become. This time, in the appointment, I said it. Depressed. The room changed when I did. So did I. Not because it fixed me. Because it ended a lie. It ended the polite reduction of my own suffering into socially manageable language. It made space for actual care instead of half-care. It made my own experience more legible to me too. That matters. More than people think. Naming pain correctly can be the first real act of protection after months of quiet self-abandonment.
