I finally told the doctor the whole truth
Dear Delyara, No minimising. No “I’m just tired.” No leaving out the worst parts because I didn’t want to sound dramatic or weak or like someone who wasn’t coping well enough. I told the full truth. The fatigue. The low mood. The nights I wake up and can’t settle again. The way noise affects me more than it used to. The way some days I can still function and still feel far away from myself while I do it. I said all of it out loud without turning it into a tidy, acceptable version first. That changed the appointment immediately. It became real care instead of surface care. I walked out feeling more exposed than comfortable, but also stronger. Not because I got a magical answer. Because I stopped protecting everyone, including professionals, from the reality of what I’ve been carrying. That honesty felt like a kind of recovery in itself.
