I Finally Used the Right Word for My Mood Instead of the Safest One

Dear Delyara, For months I had been saying “tired.” And yes, I was tired. But that word was doing too much dishonest work. Tired let me stay normal. Tired let other people stay comfortable. Tired let me keep functioning without having to admit that what I was living inside had become heavier, flatter, darker, and more serious than ordinary fatigue. This week I used the right word. Not just with myself. Out loud. And that changed everything. Not because the symptoms disappeared. Because I stopped abandoning myself with language. I stopped protecting the room from the full truth of what I had been carrying. And once the truth became more accurate, the care around it became more accurate too. That felt like a major mental health victory to me. Not diagnosis. Precision. And precision can be a form of rescue.
