My Diary
I folded the clean towels and felt calmer than I had all day
Dear Delyara, There is something about warm towels from the dryer that still reaches me. Maybe because they ask nothing. Maybe because they are simple. Maybe because folding them feels like one of the only tasks in the house that doesn’t usually come with emotion attached to it — no arguments, no school, no money, no choices, no hidden fear underneath. Just corners, edges, softness, order. I stood there folding them slowly and realised my breathing had changed. Some days I think peace comes in very strange shapes. Today, it came as towels.
