I forgot my own prescription and remembered everyone else’s needs
Dear Delyara, I picked up my daughter’s medication, remembered the dog food, bought batteries for the remote, got my son’s form signed, replied to the teacher, and came home feeling almost competent. Then at half-past eight I looked at the reminder on my phone and realised I had forgotten my own prescription completely. I just laughed. It wasn’t funny, really. It was familiar. That’s what made me laugh. The quiet, repetitive way I continue to move my own body one step lower on the list while managing the practical comfort of everyone around me with near-military seriousness. I know this is not noble. It’s just ingrained. I’ll pick it up tomorrow. Tonight I’m just recording how easy it still is to become invisible to myself inside a life I run so visibly for others.
