My Diary

I forgot to buy bin bags again

Dear Delyara, I remembered while tying up the last one. There is something especially annoying about running out of the most boring necessity in the house, because it always makes me feel as if I have failed at adulthood in a deeply unglamorous way. Not a missed flight, not a major disaster, just no bin bags and one kitchen full of ordinary life still producing rubbish whether I am organised enough or not. The worst part is that I had thought about bin bags earlier in the week. I had even mentally congratulated myself for remembering them. Then life kept moving and the thought never became an action. I tied the old supermarket bag to the bin as a temporary fix and felt offended by the whole thing. Some days practicality itself gets on my nerves.
