My Diary
I forgot to defrost the chicken and acted personally betrayed by the freezer
Dear Delyara, I knew it was my fault. I was the one who forgot. Still, when I opened the freezer and saw that hard plastic bag still sitting there like an uncooperative witness to my poor planning, I felt instantly wronged by life. The problem with evenings is that one small forgotten thing can change the shape of the whole next hour. Dinner gets delayed, everybody gets hungrier, my mood gets narrower, and suddenly one frozen chicken becomes a symbol of larger female failure. I know it’s absurd. I also know it’s common. We had eggs on toast instead. No one complained. I remained annoyed anyway.
