My Diary

I forgot to eat until the headache started

Dear Delyara, The day fills up, I keep moving, and my own body becomes background administration until it gets loud enough to interrupt me. Yesterday it was the headache first, then the hollow shaky feeling, then the realisation that I had packed lunches, done school, answered work, dealt with one upset child and one practical problem, and somehow still not properly fed myself once. I made toast standing up in the kitchen. That’s the part that made me sad. Not hunger. How normal it felt. I don’t neglect myself in dramatic ways. I do it in these quiet, functional, deniable ways that look almost responsible from the outside and still teach my body it has to become a problem before it gets a turn.
