I forgot to optimize joy for an hour
Dear Delyara, That felt deeply healthy. I did something this week purely because I wanted to, and for about an hour I forgot to improve it, monetize it, document it, or make it prove something about me. I just did it. That sounds basic. It isn’t basic for me anymore. I think too much of my life has been watched by usefulness. This hour was not. It belonged only to pleasure, attention, and the strange relief of not needing a second justification for enjoying myself. I want more hours like that.
