My Diary

I forgot what day it was and felt cheated

Dear Delyara, That may sound silly, but I actually felt my heart drop. Not because Wednesday is terrible. Because some part of me had already emotionally reached for the nearness of the weekend, and then had it taken away by reality. I stood in the kitchen with a bag of pasta in my hand thinking, you still have another full day before the day you thought you were closer to. That is the kind of disappointment only tired people understand properly. It made me realise how much I’ve been leaning toward relief lately. Not collapse. Just leaning. And when the calendar refused to cooperate, the emotional effect was embarrassingly large.
