My Diary
I Forgot Why I Walked Into the Laundry Room
Dear Delyara, I stood there holding a hanger like I had broken into somebody else’s house. I knew I had come in there for something. I knew it had mattered ten seconds earlier. And then it was just gone. I laughed out loud, but it didn’t feel funny. It felt like one more small proof that my brain is too full. Too many open loops. Too many people’s schedules. Too many emotional tabs running in the background. I remembered eventually. Paper towels. But I left that room feeling older in a way I didn’t like.
