My Diary

I found a spoon in my coat pocket from yesterday

Dear Delyara, A child’s yoghurt spoon. Slightly sticky. One more small relic of domestic life following me into the adult world. I was in the car park at work when I found it, reaching for my keys. And suddenly I felt that familiar split — one foot in work, one foot at home, one part of me trying to be efficient and professional and another part still carrying breakfast in her coat. I think what makes me tired isn’t only that I do many roles. It’s that they are all constantly leaking into each other. There is so little clean separation anymore.
