I found glitter in the butter
Dear Delyara, My daughter had been making some school thing at the kitchen table last night, and apparently despite my best efforts, the glitter had achieved full house infiltration. This morning, while making toast, I opened the butter and there it was — one bright pink speck sitting in the corner like a tiny witness to yesterday’s chaos. I actually laughed. Then I felt tired again, because it seemed so perfectly accurate. No matter how much I clean up, children still leave traces of themselves in everything. Hair clips in my bag. Stickers on the car seat. Tiny socks in the laundry I don’t remember washing. Glitter in the butter. Some days I find this adorable. Some days it feels like I no longer own any uncontaminated surfaces, including my own attention.
